Twysted Thoughts: Temptation is a Wicked Road

A monster bike coming for your soul

Temptation evicted man from the great and grand Garden of Eden. Eve wanted something she was told she couldn't have, which only made her desire it more. Unable to control that craving for the juicy red apple, Eve picked the fruit and bit into it. The downfall of man begins. If Eve hadn't eaten the apple, Adam would have eventually. It was a pretty juicy apple.

There are far more things today that tempt people than ever before. Whether it be money, food, power, or even a lifestyle, that desire to have what is, and sometimes is not, offered to you is a stronger pull than some can resist.

THE SEDUCTION

Enjoyable sinful feelings activate an area of the brain that deals with its reward circuity. You receive a rush at the tempting appeal of what stands in front of you. Whether it be slicing the tires of your ex, and I do mean 'tires' as in multi, if you're going to cut a tire, always do a minimum of two in case they have a spare in the trunk. Never, however, slash more than three as insurance then may pay for the replacements, and we don't want to be doing them any favors now, do we? Or, maybe, picking up the lead pipe on the ground to smash in the head of the dickhead that just pissed you off. If it feels good thinking about it, what would it feel like to give in and actually do it?

Many people don't know that while all this is going on, another part of your brain comes to life whose mission is to destroy that temptation. Suddenly, two warring parties are having a civil war in your skull, each trying to dominate the other as if there isn't enough clutter in there already.

And the more you try to resist and push it out of your mind, the more you're preoccupied with the thought. Should you? Could you? Must you?

ENERGY SHORTAGE

Perseverance is exhausting. Resisting the evils of the world is a never-ending battle, even if it's choosing a salad over pasta or two scoops of ice cream instead of five. It's like Eve's choice in the Garden, depleting, draining, and boy, that ice cream really looks good, especially if it comes after you key the car of your cheating spouse.

Each time you make a decision, you use a tiny bit of energy. The bigger the decision, the more fuel you use up, and when something you want or have been made to want is right there in front of you, right within your reach, it gets harder and harder to say no as time goes on.

Ask Eve, and she'll tell you it's easier to give in to temptations when you are too tired to fight.

DECEPTION AND FRAUD

Temptation can deceive. It lures you into a false sense of security, telling you, baiting you, saying if you just give in, everything will be not just okay but better than okay. It makes plenty of promises; however, it doesn't profess that the feeling of contentment will last forever.

Temptation can be like a drug. And just like a habit-forming drug, you begin to feel shame and guilt after the glow disappears. You ball yourself up in a dark corner of the room, beating yourself up and questioning every decision you've ever made. It makes you angry and feels somewhat empty. All you want is to feel better, and what would make you feel better than watching someone else suffer?

Do you think Eve only ate one apple from that tree? She described it to Adam, making his mouth water, and they snuck back into the Garden to pick some more.

A monster bike coming for your soul

It would feel great to punch every bitch that crossed our path or shove every dick into oncoming traffic, but we must have self-control. The ability to resist temptation is not something we are given when we pop out into this world from our mother's special place. It is an area of the brain that develops as we grow and is one of the last areas of the brain to fly full force. This might explain why adolescents act out, and maybe some young adults.

It all begins with self-control—our strength to with our capacity to control our emotions. Control is like a muscle; it must be worked, developed, and molded like the bicep I can't seem to get in shape.

Understand that everyone can be tempted; it doesn't matter who you are. Temptation will come knocking at your window asking you if you want to go for a late-night ride, and it's up to you to decide if the penalty is worth the fun.
