Crafted Creation
I love to write, but it doesn't give me something tangible to hold in my hands or touch besides a stack of papers. While it satisfies the creative realm within my mind, I am still left with a drive to create something physical. This inspires me every so often to break out my craft supplies and see what comes of it.
Here are some of my creations:
Purse Hall 2023
I had a burst of inspiration after making my first failed purse. I just felt something inside me needing to come out. Using another premade canvas pattern, I gave it another go. I ordered magnetic purse buttons and set to a theme of graveyard. A tombstone and some grave flowers later, I turn to the back. At that moment, "No Body No Crime" seemed to fit. Then all that was left was that core color to pull it all together. Orange, as in the orange glow of the night where the creepy crawlies roam. I just love this one and am never going to part with it. It is now my everyday purse. Now only do I make them, I test them out as well.
Lisa Patty Purse
Midnight Mischief
Brown Fuzz
Piss Off
No Body
No Crime
Having gotten positive reviews when taken out in public, I was on a high and crafted another. This time I went weird. Having ordered these hands and feet forever and a day ago, I have been dying to use them. After placing them, I thought of making her appear in a little dress. Her eyes were a whim, and her mouth a repurposed lens from my grandson's broken shark sunglasses. The next thing I knew, standing before me, was Lisa Patty Purse. A cute little blonde that can rip you to pieces with her razor-sharp teeth. Why Lisa Patty, you ask? It just came to me. Maybe she whispered it in my ear.
I had one more premade canvas pattern. This one being smaller than the other two, required something simple. Wanting to experiment with some brown fuzzy yard, I created a design, filled the rest in with black and gray, and lined the inside with burlap to give it texture. Something cute and cuddly just because. The moment I finished, it was claimed by my 7-year-old niece, so not only do I test my creations, but I have many product testers as well.
Wanting to see what I could create with my own imagination, I took a piece of canvas and cut. After I took in the image of the piece. It felt somewhat smug to me. Something more elegant than one would take on a date or upscale charity event. Deciding on the colors, I stitched. The front needed a focus and a centerpiece. Taking a piece from a pair of earrings that turned out to be too big, I placed it in the center, and it began to come to life. So here I had this exquisite piece, but still, something was missing. The essence of a bad girl. In come the handcuffs.
This last one is a credit to my one dog, who ate a few pieces of the other parts I worked on. I took the pieces left and fashioned some random ones to hold them together. Meant as a carrying case for my phone, it turned out to be too small once I put the inside fabric. With two strikes against it, I thought it should show off a bit of its attitude. Adding a few bloody weapons, I cut out and stitched the phrase "Piss Off" and centered it on the front. It wasn't what I intended, but it turned out well. All these pieces have gone over great, and there have been many requests that I make some to sell.
Twysted Purse
I got adventurous and wanted to create a purse. Searching Amazon, I found a plastic canvas pattern. This project took me some time and didn't work out as I had hoped. Although the design I chose worked out outstanding, latching it so it would stay closed did not pan out as well as I expected. It will not function as a working purse as the method I used to latch, Magnets, is very weak, but I now have a new piece to my custom-made luggage, So bonus.
The Car
This piece does not have a lot to do with my creepy and dark style, but I worked very hard on it. It was a gift for my father-in-law. The wheels themselves took me just over a week. I didn't craft for a while after as my hands shared with me that I had pushed them just a bit too far.
Flowers Mia Style
Of course, I can't just make something pretty; I must find a way to make it different. I had ordered a set of creepy doll heads for another project I had set up in my mind. I failed, as I do at times, to read or sometimes fully get dimensions; they were way too large. As I was making arrangements, I thought the other flowers I made were lovely, they were gifts, and I wanted some that I could keep in my studio.
Smell the Flowers
I have a black thumb and no matter how hard I try I cannot seem to keep flowers and other various plants alive. I passed a video on Facebook reels of someone making flowers out of ribbon and plastic and I thought I would give it a go.
Death Dolls
I had the sudden urge to make voodoo dolls after watching a movie. I gathered supplies and began wrapping. It was easy to find yarn, so I began with that. After I made a few different colored dolls, I just wasn't feeling it. They were missing something. Next step, I added clothes. Still missing something. I thought about it for a while, and the answer was kill. I created them; I could just as easily kill them. So six tiny little weapons and some red hot glue later, I had my Death Dolls. They now dawn the piller in my studio.
This is the craft I started with this year. I had just been cut up myself, so I thought, why not cut up something else? I was Frankenstein and wanted to see what kind of creations I could create. I had some old skeleton bones laying around from Halloween and added them to the mash-
